I'm a Southerner.
I was born and raised in Tennessee, but I was seasoned in Louisiana. North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia also contributed to my childhood.
I'm a traveler and road tripper.
I’ve traveled all over the country and beyond it. By plane, train, and automobile, I’ve been to 47 of the lower 48 (nothing personal, Minnesota), plus Canada and England so far. I hope an eco-friendly African safari and Italy are next.
I'm a nature lover.
I’ve combed the shore of every state that has one. I seek out wild, natural beaches where I can walk for hours and never meet a soul--except my own. Gathering beach glass, rocks, twigs, and other found objects is a favorite pastime that nourishes my writing, photography, and project design. I've spent many a blissful day in the creeks and mountains of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, too. I'm enjoying a lifelong love affair with trees.
I have DIY in my DNA.
Both of my grandmothers were makers--quilts, ceramics, needlework, crochet, gardening, baking, and more. I heart jewelry making, card making and other paper art, knitting, cooking, upcycling found objects, and just about anything that allows me to be creative with my hands. Except macrame.
I'm a nelipot paralian.
That means I walk barefoot and thrive by the ocean. I collect obscure words and phrases like some people collect coins. I'm a devoted supporter of the Oxford comma, and I can't decide which I like best, ellipsis or an em-dash.
And also, pearls. Oh my.
Plus, for almost half my life, I’ve created dynamic, multichannel original content for print, web, and social media.
